Leeds Little Free Libraries

Little Free Libraries are beautiful little cupboards on sticks, decorated by artists, dotted throughout Leeds, inviting passers-by to “Take a Book, Leave a Book”.

The scheme, conceived by Carry Franklin, now has over 100 little libraries, and I'm lucky enough to have painted 7 of them!  When originally asked if I would paint a Little Free Library for a school I couldn't refuse, getting mucky on a large scale makes me happy. I'm given free reign with the design, and get to paint the whole thing, from priming right through to varnishing - I even help dig the hole it's going in!

The brilliant creator of the wooden boxes and hand-turned knobs is Dave Ayres - otherwise known as Handmade in Headingley.
